Sometimes I become so affected by news that I disconnect myself from it, and so I really have no idea at times what is going on in the news, though I have seen and skimmed several references to what's going on in Burma. For the riot police to attack monks is surely very detestable!

Yep, sure is detestable what is going on in Burma. I can see how they feel threatened by peace loving, meditating monks....
Also, I usually only skim the (American) headlines nowadays. I actually feel better now that I'm not bombarded on a daily basis by all the news coming out of the states. But, I do like to know whats going on in the world, so world news is more my thing now.
